Judy Alonso is an artist residing in Dickinson, Texas. Her first paintings were done in oil in 1975 in a leisure class. These were few in number and all given away to friends. Judy put down her brushes while raising her family and pursuing a 30 year career with the USPS.
Thirty-eight years later, she picked her the brushes again and has been painting ever since. Her medium is acrylic and oil. While Judy considers herself basically self-taught, she has taken classes and workshops from several excellent artists which include, Juliette Lockwood, Marla Hoppenstedt, Libby Johnson, Elayne Kuehler, Michelle Conques, George Gonzales and online workshops with David Kassen and Shana Levinson. Although Judy enjoys painting all subjects, she has found her niche and passion in painting pet portraits.
The Art Associations she has been with include River Region Art Association, Association of Women in the Arts and the Galveston Art League. Her art has been represented by Biletnikoff Gallery, The Gallery Downtown Baton Rouge in Louisiana, Affair d’ Art Fine Art Gallery, The Galveston Art League and Art of Coffee Galleries in Kemah and Clear Lake, Texas. Judy has also been selected to exhibit at Circa 1857 Gallery, Elizabethan Gallery, Brush With Burden, Baton Rouge Art League Rural Life Museum, Old State Capitol in Baton Rouge and Treasures of Pointe Coupee, New Roads, Louisiana.
In October of 2023, Judy has found her way to join Art Machine Gallery in The Silos at Sawyer Yards and we are so glad she did!
